Chris & Christy's whitebookmark
Us

This picture was taken on October 21st, 2007, just 3 days after we became engaged. We are walking “the upper trail” at the Drackett’s farm in Lewisville Indiana, one of our favorite places to visit. In fact, you may even say it’s where we fell in love. Or rather, where Christy told Chris one night in August 2004, while laying in the grass looking at the stars in the pitch black sky, “I think I might be falling in love with you.” To which Chris responded, “I already know I love you.”

The farm is also where we met for the first time. We were 5 years old in the summer of 1987, when friend Winsy Johnson invited the Berghausen family to come with her family to the Drackett’s farm for a fun-filled day of 4-wheeling and swimming. Chris will say he does not remember this fateful meeting, as the farm had frequent visitors. However, Christy remembers. She remembers the swimming, the red 4-wheeler, and of course the animals, including the Drackett’s beloved black lab, Chip. She does not, however, remember Chris. But the Berghausen family picture album proves that we were all there, bad 80’s haircuts and all!

Chris and Christy reconnected at Carnegie Mellon University in the fall of 2000. As new students in the design program with an unlikely history of “um… I think my parents know your parents, and we may have met when we were 5,” we became fast friends. Chris and Christy began dating 4 years later, after graduating from CMU, and a few short months after that, moved to Chicago.

It is hard to believe we’ve been here for almost 4 years now—Chris continues his career as a user interface and graphic designer and recently started his own company, while Christy finishes her graduate coursework earning a masters degree in Counseling and Art Therapy, and enjoys working with children in inner-city Chicago schools.

Thanks to everyone reading this for your love and support! As we set forth on this journey of our new life together, we continue to be ever grateful for the wonderful friends and family life has given us.
